In France, stepping in dog poop with your left foot is actually considered good luck. 😀
That’s interesting! I wonder how do they come up with these superstitions anyway! I hope I never step in any with either foot! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this one and for your participation!
Some of these superstitions are so random, but they make life more colorful.
I’m with you—good luck or not, I’d rather admire that tradition from a distance
I’m with you on this one lol
Yes, better to enjoy this tradition from a distance.
In my Country Many believe that if you whistle at night, you invite snakes or malevolent spirits into your space.
I believe Parents often use this to keep children quiet in the evenings.
I think you are right! Our parent may have made up of lot of these. This is a real scary one! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
Thank you, we have lots of it to make us behave when I was growing up
That would make me be quiet and I’m a chatter box lol
I don’t know if it is really a weird superstition or not but when you are walking somewhere with someone, and you approach a pole or something like that, you aren’t supposed to “split” the pole. You shouldn’t walk on one side and the other person walk on the other. Something to do with the relationship or friendship getting messed up.
I grew up on this one, Jill! It’s hard for me to get away from it as an adult. My brother tells me that it’s nothing to it, but I still don’t want to split the pole. 🙂 Thank you so much for your comment and for your participation!
I am the same way. Yep! Even as an adult and even if the other person doesn’t know about it!
Lol I’ve heard of that one but if you split the pole you would have to say bread and butter lol
If you clean on New Years Day, someone in your life will be washed away (pass away).
I remember that one! I lived by that one for a child to adult age. I would not wash and I wouldn’t let anyone else wash on that day! I don’t know if I was crazy or what! :-)Thank for the memories and for your comment!
Hi Ladies, I still really say these things and even go as far as to believe some of them. This is awesome, Thanks.
I’ve never heard of that one but now I don’t have to clean on new years day lol man I hope the party wasn’t at my house lol
I think the craziest superstitions that heard was if someone sweeps and touches your feet you will have bad luck .
I remember that one as a child and well into my adulthood. I still don’t wont anyone to sweep my toes or feet! 🙂 It may or may not be true but I just don’t wont any part of it! 🙂 Thanks, Christonia for your comment and for your participation!
This tale has made it’s way, I thought it was to never be married, I will check into it with the Ol Wive her self, Mom. Thanks again this is awesome.
Man maybe that’s my problem cause my Aunt Rose would hit us all the time in the feet with the broom to get us to move when she was cleaning all through my childhood lol
I grew up listening to my Mother and her Sister’s enforce such folk lore into our lives, it’s quite entertaining. Makes a great conversation piece as well. “If I sweep under your feet, you will never be married” she would say. Or my favorite, I can’t help myself from still saying is if you drop the broom “you have company coming” and I had to ask my Daddy, who claims there all just ol wives tales. Isn’t it something? This was fun, and Thank YOU ALL.
Thanks for sharing these, Billie Sue! Yes, I do believe that are all just for fun. I have to laugh at the ones I am seeing in the comments. Some I remember and the others are new. It’s amazing and I am really enjoying reading each one. You mentioned the broom and I remember something about if a child sweep with the broom, company was company. Thank you so much, Billie Sue for your comment and for your participation!
What would they say if you broke the boom in half I ask because this literally just happened to me yikes lol
That it was bad luck to sweep dirt back outside from inside your house. My friend got a little upset with me because I did it anyways saying well that’s where it came from.
You were right and you did right, Dianna! Sorry your friend got mad! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
My Mom always said don’t do laundry on New Years Day or someone in your family will die. I don’t know where that came from but I always get my laundry done before January 1st. Reading all these superstitions has been very interesting.
Yes, Sandra I grew up on that one too! I made sure I didn’t wash on that day! I am glad you read and found the other comments interesting. I know I have. Some are new and some brought back memories! Thanks so much Sandra for sharing with us and for your participation!
The weirdest superstitious believe I have ever heard is the saying that when someone dies with an incomplete body like a broken leg or arm, when a new child is born into the family, he or she has same looks of broken arm or legs as the one who died.
This is the first time I’ve heard this one. Quite interesting, I must say. Thanks, Sylvester for your comment and for your participation.
Smile! You are welcome Phyllis
Yeah that’s reincarnation
Troublesome Elves
Oh, my! Thanks for your comment and for your participation, Saviour!
One weird superstition I’ve heard is that if you whistle at night, snakes will come. It always sounded funny to me, but some people take it really seriously!
If someone crosses you while lying down, the persons child looks like you in future 🤭😂
Oh, my goodness! This is a first for me. I’ve never heard of this one. I sure hope I never crossed anyone! 🙂 I did heard of when a pregnant woman talks about someone, she marks her child to look like that particular person. Anyway, they both are weird! Thank, Precious for your comment and for your participation!
When your teeth fall, you pick it up and throw it on the zinc, so new ones can grow back fast again, it’s so weird
Yes, I do agree with you on this one! Weird for sure! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
They are so many. One of them is what ever action you take on the first day of the year, that’s what you will continue to do throughout the year.
I remember that one! I use to follow it faithfully. Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
Black cats are bad luck. They are rare. I have 2 out of my dozen of cats. They are really the most lovable out of all of them.
That is so nice, Ethel! Thanks for sharing with us and we appreciate your comment, as well as, your participation!
You are welcome
I think mine is the belief that every thing in life is turn by turn you have to wait for your turn
You are absolutely right! It’s about when it’s your turn! I like that! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
I think the weirdest superstition I’ve heard of is that washing plate immediately after eating makes you to get hungry faster than usual
I’ve never heard of this one before. This is a first. No wonder they are always hungry! 🙂 Thanks Eric, for your comment and for your participation!
I heard of plenty and my folks probably still believe them but one is not to wash clothes or gamble on Sundays. Being religious, I think that’s self explanatory.
Yes, these two have been around a long time. I remember hearing about these when I was a little girl. In my household, they didn’t wash or gamble! Thanks for your comment and for your participation!
The weirdest one is don’t buy after shave or perfume as this will break up your romance for each other .
Wow! Very interesting and funny! I am still laughing! 🙂 Thanks for sharing this very funny one with us and we appreciate your participation!

Thank you so very much! I appreciate the extra points!
