Well, when I was twenty one years old, I worked as a cashier at Harold’s Chicken Shack in Chicago, IL making $1.25 an hour. On one particular night, I was working the cash register and there was around 10 customers in the line waiting to be served when the manager walked through the door. The chicken was delicious and worth the wait! There was only one register and one me. He was livid when he saw that line. The manager started yelling at me in front of the customers and walked to the back where the kitchen was. As I turned my head and watched him exit to the kitchen (an evil spirit got into me) 🙂 I waited on the next customer, then I excused myself from the register and walked to the back where the manager was and I asked him if I could speak with him. I looked him dead in his eyes and said, “If there was a problem you should have pulled me to the side and told me, not yell at me in front of the customers”. I can not remember what he said, but I do remember telling him, “I do not appreciate being yelled at and I am leaving so you get that line down”. I retrieved my personal belongings and exited the building. I quit! Two weeks later, the manager called me and apologize to me. After we talked and he asked if I would return to work, I accepted his apology and he sent a taxi for me and I returned as a cashier. Lesson learned for me, I wont ever just walk off like that unless my life is in danger!
Yes, several times, but always on good terms.
Mostly it was because a better job came along (one of them I took a cut in pay to take because it was in my field), but the final one was because our family was moving away and I was devoting my time to being a full time SAHM.
Thank you Kathryn! Very good reasons and always on good terms! I appreciate your participation!
Yes, once, but it was on good terms and for a good reason. My situation required more income than I was receiving at that time.
Good reason and thank you Mitzi for your participation!

Quitting a job can be a difficult and emotional decision, but it can also be a liberating experience that allows individuals to pursue new paths and opportunities. Some people might feel a sense of relief or excitement about the unknown, while others might feel anxious or uncertain about their future.
If you’re considering quitting your job, it’s essential to take the time to reflect on your reasons and goals. Ask yourself:
– What are my motivations for leaving?
– What are my priorities and values?
– What kind of work environment and culture do I thrive in?
– What are my long-term career goals?
Having a clear understanding of your motivations and goals can help you make an informed decision and navigate the transition process.
Yes, I agree with all your reasonings for making that very important decision! They are very good! Thanks Kelvin!
