“My dog wouldn’t come back inside — and I couldn’t just leave him out there!” (adorable and relatable)
“I hit every red light possible — I think the city’s traffic lights are conspiring against me.” (a little humor goes a long way)
“I was ready on time, but then I couldn’t find my keys… they were in the fridge.” (too oddly specific not to be true)
If you want something honest but still polite, a simple:
“I’m really sorry I’m late — something unexpected came up, but I’m here now and appreciate your patience.”
is often the best kind of “excuse.”

Rosanna wow those are some of the best excuses! Thanks for sharing.
