By a certain age people already know and understand right from wrong. (However in my opinion having a disability of the mind can warrant for an excuse) But why do people say I am sorry once they are caught?
I think when people say sorry for wrong doing because they are caught, it shows sign of repentance and remorsefulnes. It could also be a pretence to save themselves from an ugly situation and escape justice/punishment.
