It depends on the individual.
Some officers may become overly attached to the authority that comes with the badge, which can lead to ego, misuse of power, or acting above others. But many others take their role seriously and see it as a responsibility to serve and protect, not a privilege to dominate.
Like any profession, there are good and bad examples—the badge itself isn’t the problem, it’s how it’s carried.
So here’s the real question:
Do you think power changes people, or does it simply reveal who they already are?

I THINK THAT IT ALL COMES DOWN TO WHO WE REALLY ARE DEEP DOWN INSIDE. BUT TO HAVE POWER WE NEED TO LEARN DISCIPLINE; THAT WAY WE CAN CONTROL OUR SELVES AMONGST OTHERS AND ACT IN A WELL MANNERED WAY. IF WE DON’T HAVE DISCIPLINE WE MAY END UP TREATING PEOPLE BADLY. AND ONCE YOU LOOSE THAT RESPECT IT IS HARD TO GET BACK. YOU HAVE TO RESPECT OTHERS TO BE RESPECTED. I DO THINK THAT POWER REVEALS WHO WE REALLY ARE… GOOD OR BAD?? I HOPE THAT I AM ON THE GOOD SIDE…
